The everyday edition of Windows 11, licensed once for one home PC.
| Edition | Microsoft Windows 11 Home (not N) |
| License term | One-time purchase, lifetime |
| Devices | 1 PC (desktop, laptop or mini PC) |
| Works for | New builds, clean installs, unactivated copies |
| Version | Latest Windows 11, 64-bit, any language |
| Activation | Online in Settings, or by phone |

This listing is for one genuine Windows 11 Home product key: a 25-character code that licenses Microsoft Windows 11 Home on a single desktop, laptop or mini PC. Home is the edition most new consumer laptops ship with, and it is built for personal use: browsing, schoolwork, streaming, photo editing, video calls and gaming. You pay once, the key activates against Microsoft’s servers, and that computer stays licensed with no yearly fee.
Buyers usually arrive here from one of three situations. Some are building a gaming PC and need a license for the new SSD. Some bought a secondhand computer that shows an “Activate Windows” watermark because the previous owner’s license never came with it. Others are leaving Windows 10 behind on hardware that meets the Windows 11 requirements. In each case the key turns an unlicensed installation into a fully activated one, and if Home is already on the drive nothing needs reinstalling.
Home is not a trial or a stripped-down build. It is the complete Windows 11 operating system with every consumer feature Microsoft ships, and it receives the same monthly security patches and yearly feature updates as the business editions. The highlights:
The installer is free; the license is not. Anyone can download Windows 11 from Microsoft and install it, but until a valid product key or digital license activates it, Windows runs in an unactivated state. The only free route to an activated copy is the upgrade offer for PCs that already hold a genuine, activated Windows 10 license and compatible hardware. A new build, a blank drive in a PC that never had a license, or a used computer whose activation was lost all need a key.
| What you notice | Unactivated Windows 11 | Activated with a Home key |
|---|---|---|
| “Activate Windows” watermark | Shown in the corner of the screen | Gone |
| Wallpaper, colors and themes | Locked in Settings | Fully customizable |
| Activation reminders | Recurring prompts | None |
| Status in Settings › System › Activation | “Windows is not activated” | “Windows is activated” |
| Licensing | Not licensed | Genuine, licensed copy |
Our guide to the Activate Windows watermark explains what the overlay means and why it appears, and the article on upgrading Windows 10 to Windows 11 covers the free path for eligible Windows 10 computers.
| Question | Windows 11 Home | Windows 11 Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Speed in games and everyday apps | Same | Same |
| Drive protection | Device encryption on supported PCs | Full BitLocker and BitLocker To Go |
| Remote access into this PC | Not available (can connect out only) | Remote Desktop host |

For a family laptop or a gaming desktop, Home covers everything you will actually use. Choose the Windows 11 Pro product key instead if you need to reach this PC remotely, encrypt USB drives or run virtual machines. Picking Home today does not lock you in: the Windows 11 Home to Pro upgrade key unlocks Pro later in place, with no reinstall. Every difference is broken down in Windows 11 Home vs Pro.
Home is the right edition for most personal computers. It suits:

| Requirement | What Windows 11 Home needs | Where to check |
|---|---|---|
| Processor | 64-bit, 1 GHz or faster, 2+ cores, on Microsoft’s supported list | Settings › System › About |
| Memory | 4 GB minimum (8 GB feels much smoother) | Settings › System › About |
| Storage | 64 GB or more | File Explorer › This PC |
| Security chip | TPM 2.0 | Win + R › tpm.msc |
| Firmware | UEFI with Secure Boot capability | Win + R › msinfo32 |
| Graphics | DirectX 12 compatible, WDDM 2.0 driver | Win + R › dxdiag |
| Setup | Internet connection and a Microsoft account | During first-run setup |
Microsoft’s free PC Health Check app runs these tests in one go and names the item that fails. When TPM or Secure Boot shows as missing, it is often only switched off in the firmware; our Windows 11 requirements guide shows where those settings live on common motherboards.
Yes, for a normal setup. Windows 11 Home asks for an internet connection and a Microsoft account during the first-run screens, while Pro adds a separate work-or-school setup path. The account is free and brings practical benefits: OneDrive backup, Find my device, encryption recovery keys stored online, and a digital license linked to your profile, which makes reactivation simpler after a repair. If you do not have one yet, create a Microsoft account before you start the installation.
Lifetime means the license has no end date on the PC it activates. You can reinstall Windows 11 Home on that machine as often as you like, take every Windows 11 feature update Microsoft releases, and swap the SSD, RAM or graphics card without paying again. It does not stretch to a second computer, and Microsoft treats a replacement motherboard as a different device. Read moving a Windows 11 license to a new computer before you retire the PC. The license covers Windows 11 only, not a future major version of Windows.
Microsoft sells Windows 11 Home for $139 in its own US store. The price we charge appears at the top of this page and already covers email delivery, the download link, the install guide and activation support. Timing matters for many owners: Windows 10 stopped receiving regular security updates in October 2025, and the consumer Extended Security Updates program ends on October 12, 2027. Our article on Windows 10 end of support lays out the options, and for most compatible PCs a Home license is the lowest-cost way onto a supported system.
Yes, as long as the seller stands behind the key. A legitimate store names the company behind it, points you to Microsoft’s own installer rather than a modified ISO, publishes a refund policy and answers when activation fails. Kymakers is operated by Makers Unity LLC, a Microsoft partner, and every Windows 11 Home order comes with a 180-day refund on unredeemed keys plus a free replacement if a key stops working through no fault of yours. Our guide to cheap Windows keys: legit vs scam lists the warning signs, such as sellers who ask you to run activation scripts or download Windows from a file-sharing site.

If online activation fails, press Windows + R, type slui 4 and follow the phone prompts; our Get Confirmation ID tool helps with that step. Very happy with how this went. Couldn’t justify the full retail price — this was a much smarter option. It’s been reliable since day one. 10/10 would order again.
Exactly what I needed and it worked perfectly. Good price for a genuine licence. Exactly what I was after. Does exactly what it says on the tin. Would buy from kymakers again.
Instant delivery — exactly what I needed. Activation was a bit fiddly the first time — had to try twice. Happy to recommend this to friends.
Not perfect but does the job. Had a minor hiccup during activation but a quick restart sorted it. The software runs perfectly, no issues to report. Might order again but would hope for a smoother experience.
Really happy with this purchase. For the price, this is a solid deal. All the features I needed are there and working fine. 10/10 would order again.
