This is a genuine Windows 10 Pro for Workstations product key that licenses one PC for life. Pro for Workstations is the top desktop edition of Windows 10 for heavy hardware: it runs on machines with up to four physical processors and 6 TB of memory and adds ReFS, persistent memory and SMB Direct to everything Windows 10 Pro already does. The final version is 22H2, and the key activates it permanently.
We want to be clear about timing before you buy. Microsoft stopped supporting Windows 10, including this edition, on October 14, 2025. It still installs, activates and runs normally, and it remains a sensible choice for a powerful workstation that cannot meet the Windows 11 requirements, especially one without TPM 2.0. If your hardware does qualify for Windows 11, the Windows 11 version of this edition is the better long-term buy.
No. Regular security updates for this edition ended on October 14, 2025, and the consumer Extended Security Updates program that covered it closes on October 12, 2027. After that, a Windows 10 Pro for Workstations PC receives no further security fixes from Microsoft. In practice, an unsupported workstation is safest when it works offline, sits behind a well-managed firewall, or runs a fixed set of trusted applications. Render nodes, lab analysis machines and air-gapped engineering stations often fit that description. A daily internet-facing machine should move to Windows 11. You need it only if the hardware goes beyond what Windows 10 Pro can use and the machine has to stay on Windows 10. Check the specification against these points:

ReFS is worth a word of explanation: it checksums metadata, and with integrity streams enabled also file data, so on a mirrored Storage Spaces pool Windows can spot a damaged block and rebuild it from the good copy. NTFS cannot do that, which is why studios and labs with multi-terabyte archives value it.

From Windows 10 Pro the upgrade is a simple key change: open Settings › Update & Security › Activation, choose Change product key and enter this key, and Windows switches editions without reinstalling. Can you upgrade from Windows 10 Home to Workstation? Yes, Microsoft supports a Home to Pro for Workstations edition upgrade with a product key in the same place. Buying Windows 10 Pro for Workstations today does not lock you in. When the workstation gets a TPM 2.0 module or a newer supported platform, an activated Windows 10 Pro for Workstations installation can take Microsoft’s free upgrade to Windows 11 Pro for Workstations on that eligible hardware and keep its edition. If your workstation only needs a patched Windows 10 for a fixed job and none of the four-socket or ReFS features, the Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 edition receives security updates until January 2032 and is worth comparing.
It is worth it when the hardware is the expensive part and the operating system just needs to unlock it. A multi-socket workstation with hundreds of gigabytes of RAM can still deliver years of useful render, simulation or analysis work, and replacing it only to satisfy the Windows 11 TPM rule is costly. A one-time key at the price shown at the top of this page, with no monthly fee, lets that machine keep earning. The value drops for a PC that browses the web and handles email every day, because the missing security updates become a real risk. In that case put the money toward hardware that runs Windows 11 Pro for Workstations, or a Windows 11 Pro key if you do not need the workstation features.
