Windows 10 Enterprise Product Key: What You Are Buying

The product on this page is a genuine Windows 10 Enterprise product key, which activates Microsoft’s Enterprise edition of Windows 10 on one computer. Enterprise is the edition built for organizations with an IT function. It contains everything in Windows 10 Pro and adds credential isolation, application allow-listing, branch-office networking and application virtualization. The key is a one-time purchase, delivered by email, and the activation does not expire.

Most customers apply it to a PC already running Windows 10 Pro. Entering the Enterprise key in Settings switches the edition in place, keeping apps and data. For a new machine, you install Windows 10 Pro from Microsoft’s download page and then enter the Enterprise key. Both routes are described in the How to Download tab.

In short: this is a one-time, single-device license for Windows 10 Enterprise, Microsoft’s business edition, with Credential Guard, AppLocker, DirectAccess and BranchCache on top of all Pro features. It does not need TPM 2.0. Windows 10 Enterprise 22H2 reached end of support on October 14, 2025, so it suits managed fleets on hardware that cannot run Windows 11.

What Does Windows 10 Enterprise Add Over Pro?

Windows 10 Enterprise adds security and management features aimed at companies, on top of everything Pro already includes (BitLocker, Remote Desktop host, Hyper-V, Group Policy, domain join):

  • Credential Guard isolates sign-in secrets such as NTLM hashes and Kerberos tickets in a virtualization-protected container, which blunts pass-the-hash attacks.
  • AppLocker enforces allow and deny rules for programs, scripts and installers through Group Policy, so only approved software runs.
  • DirectAccess gives domain-joined laptops a connection to internal resources without users launching a VPN (it needs a Windows Server remote access setup).
  • BranchCache keeps copies of files and intranet content at a branch office to cut traffic over slow links.
  • App-V and UE-V, built into the edition, stream virtualized applications and roam user settings between PCs.
  • Lowest diagnostic data level: Enterprise can set telemetry to “Security”, an option Pro does not offer.

If none of these appear in your requirements, Windows 10 Pro covers the same everyday work for less. Pro’s own advantages are summarized in our explainer on how Pro differs from Home.

Enterprise or LTSC: Which Should You Buy?

Choose LTSC if you need security updates for years on hardware that cannot run Windows 11; choose Enterprise if you need the standard Enterprise desktop, with the Store and the usual inbox apps, for compatibility with an existing image. Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 carries the Enterprise security features, receives security fixes until January 13, 2032 and leaves out feature updates, so it is well suited to point-of-sale terminals, lab machines and controllers. Standard Windows 10 Enterprise has reached its end of support and only receives fixes through Microsoft’s paid commercial ESU program. To be candid, for a general office PC that is online every day, LTSC or a move to Windows 11 Enterprise is the safer plan.

Is Windows 10 Enterprise Still Supported?

No, not for free: Windows 10 Enterprise 22H2 reached end of servicing on October 14, 2025, the same day as Home and Pro. Companies can pay Microsoft for commercial Extended Security Updates for up to three years beyond that date, bought through volume licensing or a cloud solution provider; that subscription is separate and is not part of this key. The consumer ESU program, which ends on October 13, 2026, applies to Home and Pro rather than to Enterprise. Both timelines are set out in our Windows 10 end-of-support guide and the Windows 10 ESU options explainer. The activated license itself keeps working regardless.

Who Should Buy Windows 10 Enterprise?

  • IT administrators keeping a standard Windows 10 Enterprise image across machines that fail the Windows 11 hardware check.
  • Managed service providers and consultants who need a licensed Enterprise test machine to reproduce client issues.
  • Regulated or air-gapped workstations where AppLocker allow-listing is a compliance requirement.
  • Developers and security trainers testing Group Policy, Credential Guard or AppLocker behaviour.
  • Branch offices already relying on DirectAccess or BranchCache with existing Windows Server infrastructure.

How a Windows 10 Pro PC Becomes Enterprise

Microsoft supports moving from Windows 10 Pro to Enterprise simply by entering an Enterprise product key under Settings › Update & Security › Activation › Change product key. Windows changes the edition without reinstalling, and your apps, files and domain membership stay in place. A PC on Windows 10 Home cannot jump straight to Enterprise; install Windows 10 Pro first (or upgrade Home to Pro), then apply this key. Because Microsoft’s public download page provides standard Windows 10 media rather than a separate Enterprise image, the Pro-then-Enterprise route is also the practical way to set up a new machine.

Hardware Requirements and Feature Prerequisites

RequirementDetails
Base system1 GHz CPU, 2 GB RAM (64-bit) or 1 GB (32-bit), 32 GB storage, DirectX 9 graphics
Credential Guard64-bit CPU with virtualization extensions and SLAT, UEFI with Secure Boot; TPM 1.2 or 2.0 recommended
Hyper-V64-bit CPU with SLAT, virtualization enabled in firmware, 4 GB RAM or more
BitLockerTPM recommended; without one, a USB startup key or password can be used
AppLockerApplication Identity service running; rules deployed by Group Policy
DirectAccessDomain membership and a Windows Server remote access deployment

None of these features demands TPM 2.0, which is why Windows 10 Enterprise remains an option on business desktops and laptops that Windows 11 does not support.

Moving From Windows 10 Enterprise to Windows 11 Enterprise

On hardware that meets the Windows 11 requirements, Microsoft supports an in-place upgrade from Windows 10 Enterprise to Windows 11 Enterprise that keeps applications and settings. If you are licensing a PC today that already passes the TPM 2.0, Secure Boot and processor checks, buying a Windows 11 Enterprise product key directly is the better investment. Our article on Windows 11 Enterprise vs Pro explains the newer edition, and our walkthrough for upgrading Windows 10 to Windows 11 shows how to test a PC’s eligibility.

Licensing Several Enterprise PCs

Each key activates one device, so an office that standardizes ten machines on Enterprise needs ten keys. A common approach is to deploy your usual Windows 10 Pro image, join the domain, and then apply a different Enterprise key to each computer, either by hand in Settings or from an elevated command prompt with slmgr /ipk followed by slmgr /ato. Keep a register that links every key to a device name and serial number so reinstalls and audits are simple. Before buying in quantity, check which of those machines could run Windows 11: any that pass are better licensed with Windows 11 Enterprise, while the rest can stay on Windows 10 Enterprise until they are retired.

Lifetime License, Activation and Guarantees

Windows Enterprise is often bought as an E3 or E5 per-user subscription. This key is different: a one-time payment that licenses one device permanently, with no renewal. A reinstall or a drive swap does not affect it; a motherboard replacement, however, makes Windows treat the machine as a new device. Future Windows versions and ESU are not included. Before buying any Windows key online, check who stands behind it; is it safe to buy cheap Microsoft license keys? walks through the checks. Kymakers is the online store of Makers Unity LLC, a Microsoft partner. Unused keys qualify for a refund within 180 days under our refund policy, any key that fails through no fault of yours is exchanged at no charge, and activation questions are answered by email.

How to Download, Install and Activate Windows 10 Enterprise

Windows 10 Enterprise is activated by entering your Enterprise key on Windows 10 Pro, so no separate Enterprise installer is needed. Pick the path for your PC.

A. The PC already runs Windows 10 Pro (about 5 minutes)

  1. On the Pro PC, go to Settings › Update & Security › Activation.
  2. Click Change product key.
  3. Type your Enterprise key (25 characters, from the Kymakers email) and press Next.
  4. Windows switches the edition and activates. Confirm under Settings › System › About that it shows Windows 10 Enterprise and that Activation reads “Windows is activated”.

B. New PC, blank drive, or a PC on Windows 10 Home

  1. Open the Windows 10 download page on Microsoft.com on any computer; the Media Creation Tool and the ISO are both offered there.
  2. Create a bootable USB drive of 8 GB or more (see our bootable USB guide).
  3. Boot from the USB. At the key prompt pick I don’t have a product key, install the Windows 10 Pro edition and finish setup.
  4. Once at the desktop, follow path A with your Enterprise key to convert Pro to Enterprise.

C. Workstations without internet access

  1. After entering the key, open the Run box (Windows + R) and launch slui 4.
  2. Select your region and complete phone activation.
  3. If phone activation stalls, try our Get Confirmation ID tool.

Troubleshooting

An error reading “This edition can’t be activated with this key” usually means the PC is still on Home; move it to Pro first, then enter the Enterprise key. If setup installs Home automatically because of a key stored in the firmware, reply to your delivery email and we will help you get to Pro. Error codes are explained in activation error 0xC004F074 and Windows key not working?. Our team will help you finish activation by email.

Before you buy
How quickly is the Windows 10 Enterprise key delivered?
Most orders are emailed within minutes, and the message includes the download link and the Pro-to-Enterprise activation steps.
What does Windows 10 Enterprise add over Pro?
Credential Guard, AppLocker, DirectAccess, BranchCache and built-in App-V and UE-V, plus the option to reduce diagnostic data to the Security level. Everything in Pro is included too.
Is Windows 10 Enterprise still supported?
Free support ended on October 14, 2025. After that, patches come only through Microsoft’s paid commercial ESU program; our ESU explainer covers eligibility.
Should I choose Windows 10 Enterprise or LTSC?
If you need security patches for years, the Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 is supported until January 13, 2032. Standard Enterprise fits when you need the regular desktop with the Store and inbox apps.
Does Windows 10 Enterprise work on hardware that fails the Windows 11 check?
Yes. It does not require TPM 2.0 or a recent processor, so it installs on most business PCs that Windows 11 rejects.
Is this a lifetime license or an E3/E5 subscription?
A lifetime license: you pay once for one PC. E3 and E5 are separate per-user subscriptions sold by Microsoft and its partners.
Does Windows 10 Enterprise run normal software?
Yes. Office, browsers, line-of-business apps and games run just as they do on Pro.
Is Windows 11 Enterprise a better buy?
For hardware that passes the Windows 11 check, yes, because it is still supported. See Windows 11 Enterprise vs Pro.

No, Microsoft does not support that jump. Move the PC to Windows 10 Pro first, then apply the Enterprise key.
Where do I download Windows 10 Enterprise?
Install Windows 10 Pro from Microsoft’s Windows 10 download page, then enter your Enterprise key to convert it.
Can I activate an offline workstation?
Yes, by phone using slui 4. Our Get Confirmation ID tool can help with the code.
What if I see error 0xC004F074 or another activation error?
Check that the PC is on Pro or Enterprise, not Home, and see how to fix error 0xC004F074. Persistent errors? Answer the delivery email and we will sort it out.
Can I get a refund if I no longer need the key?
Yes, within 180 days if the key has not been redeemed; read our refund and returns policy for the conditions.
