Microsoft Office 2024 Standard system requirements

Before you download Office 2024 Standard, make sure your PC meets the minimum requirements. Office LTSC 2024 runs on Windows only — it is not available for Mac.

What you need before you start

Step 1 — Remove any older Office versions

Save it inside the Office2024Setup folder as configuration.xml — in the Save As dialog set “Save as type” to All Files and encoding to UTF-8.

Install via Command Prompt

1. Click Start, type cmd, then right-click Command Prompt and choose Run as administrator.
2. Move into your setup folder by running:

cd C:\Office2024Setup

3. Start the download and installation:

setup.exe /configure configuration.xml

Manual activation (if needed)

Because AUTOACTIVATE is set to 1, Office usually activates automatically once installed. If it doesn’t, activate it manually with your product key:

1. Open any Office app (e.g. Word) and go to File → Account.
2. If prompted, choose “I want to activate the software by telephone” and follow the steps to get a Confirmation ID.

Troubleshooting common issues

“Configuration file not found”

Command Prompt isn’t in the right folder or wasn’t run as administrator. Re-open Command Prompt as admin and confirm both setup.exe and configuration.xml are inside C:\Office2024Setup.

“We can’t install because of a conflicting product”

An older Office or OneNote is still present. Remove it via Settings → Apps → Installed apps, restart, then run the installer again.
